Threat Analysis - Crime Prevention Planning

Crime Prevention planning and training has been a significant part of the work of the John C. Villines Group since its inception; and it continues to be one of our top priorities.  Internationally recognized as a leader in crime prevention consulting, John Villines has been interviewed by The Wall Street Journal and other major media outlets. Board Certified in Security Management by The American Society for Industrial Security and as a Crime Prevention Specialist by the International Society of Crime Prevention Practitioners, he

We can provide due diligence consulting and reporting services at your location, consistent with industry standards, including on site assessments and review of data relevant to the security and safety of persons and property . Included in that assessment will be an evaluation of crime patterns, lighting, egress and ingress, access controls, environmental design, signage, and other physical and procedural crime prevention considerations.

At the end of the consultation, we can provide you with a comprehensive report detailing our recommendations and providing the respective level of priority for each recommendation.

Over the course of three decades, we have provided these services in every conceivable venue including: private dwellings, regional shopping complexes, multi-story office buildings, and federal government installations.  The needs of each client differ. Some are seeking a threat assessment that deals with macro issues, such as terrorism; while others want the focus to be on the micro issues, such as access controls, locks and other security hardware. Many clients seek seek an assessment that will combine some of each.

An additional concern in recent years is intellectual property.  According to the American Society for Industrial Security, U.S. businesses lost an estimated $300 billion in intellectual property alone in 1997. This does not include the amount lost due to theft of inventory, and the report identifies “high-tech companies as the most frequent targets…followed by manufacturing and service industries”. The most frequently compromised information was “research and development strategies, manufacturing and marketing plans and customer lists”. These are real security threats, as is theft of inventory, but can be much more costly to a business than the theft of inventory items.  We are committed to staying on the cutting edge of addressing the threat of intellectual property losses, and can integrate an assessment of your risk in that area into any crime prevention plan.

Whatever your needs, our experience in providing a wide range of consulting services enables us to design and implement a threat assessment program that will address your present situation. Perhaps equally important, since threats and levels of threat are subject to change, we would be leaving you with a well-defined threat analysis model by which you could continue to update your own threat assessments as needed in the future.  Our commitment is to making sure that you and your family, clients, tenants, and customers are safe; and we will tailor our services to meet your specific needs to that end.
