The Georgia Board of Private Detective and Security Agencies
ATHENS, GA - (June 30, 2003) – John C. Villines has been elected by his colleagues on the the Georgia Board of Private Detectives and Security Agencies to serve as the Chairman of that board. Other Board members include Gary Baker, Cognizant Member; Chief of Police Woodrow Blue; Vernon Keenan, Director of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation; and Tripp Mitchell, Vice Chair.
According to the Georgia Secretary of State's office, Certain businesses and professions have been determined by the Legislature as affecting the health, safety, and welfare of the public. Persons practicing in these businesses and professions, with some exemptions, are required by state law to be licensed under the state examining boards. These requirements are published in the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, Title 43, 26, or 12. The Board of Private Detective and Security Agencies is charged with licensing persons who work within those fields. Licensees must have successfully completed specific requirements, such as education, experience, and examination. Licensees are required to maintain a current license that must be renewed every two years
