Georgia Governor Names John Villines to Board

John Villines, Founder of the John C. Villines Group, Will Serve On

The Georgia Board of Private Detective and Security Agencies

 

ATHENS, GA - (June 5, 2003) – The Honorable Sonny Perdue, Governor of the State of Georgia, has named John C. Villines to the Georgia Board of Private Detective and Security Agencies. Mr. Villines had been nominated to fill one of the positions on this seven member Board by Senators Sue Burmeister and Ben Bridges who described him as having "a long history of distinguished service to the profession and to the State of Georgia" and having "consistently demonstrated a commitment to excellence in this industry."

 

According to the Georgia Secretary of State's office, Certain businesses and professions have been determined by the Legislature as affecting the health, safety, and welfare of the public. Persons practicing in these businesses and professions, with some exemptions, are required by state law to be licensed under the state examining boards. These requirements are published in the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, Title 43, 26, or 12.  The Board of Private Detective and Security Agencies is charged with licensing persons who work within those fields.  Licensees must have successfully completed specific requirements, such as education, experience, and examination. Licensees are required to maintain a current license that must be renewed every two years
